Women play a major role in economic activities and household activities but despite this, she is less preferred in the family than the male members due to her inability to earn and hence get minimum opportunities of self-development. There is an urgent need for intervention that leads to the socio-economic empowerment of SC/ST women. A non-residential vocational training centre set up by Abhinav Bharat Samaj Seva Mandal (ABSSM) in Salse village in Karmala block in Solapur district will make 30 poor SC/ST women skilled in tailoring work for 3 months that will improve their poor situation and lead them towards empowerment. Number of beneficiaries - 30 Training materials like cloths, threads etc. @ Rs. 390 x 30 women x 3 months – Rs. 35,100 Machinery maintenance – Rs. 15,000 Salary and travel for 1 trainer @ Rs. 8,000 x 3 months – Rs. 24,000 Tables, chairs, mats at the centre – Rs. 15,900 Total cost – Rs. 90,000 for 3 months for 30 women Cost per person – Rs. 3,000 for 3 months ABSSM and local community will contribute for the rent of the training centre.
